Hailing from nearby Westchester, Megan Talay has quickly established herself as a bright talent in the Big Apple. She has a new EP out later this week that shows that she's only begun to tap in to her immense abilities. While her 2015 was a nice introduction, her self-titled one is a revelation. Working with heavy hitters like co-producers Greg Mayo (Bernhoft, Delta Rae) and Zach Jones (Sting, A Great Big World, Wakey!Wakey!), the EP shows her unapologetic rocking edge.
"I'm so excited to share this EP finally!" she says. "It's been a decently long time coming- I think we started tracking in 2015- and I'm so glad to finally have these tunes and these tracks out in the world. This EP is technically my second release but it really feels like a debut in a way- of a new sound and a new attitude for my project, which is why I decided to self-title.
"I got to stretch out a lot more as a guitarist and I got to work with some of my absolute favorite musicians and people- Greg Mayo, Zach Jones, Paul Maddison, Kenny Shaw, Ducky Carlisle, and Jon Jetter. I think that folks who grew up when I grew up, listening to bands like Weezer, Blink-182, Nirvana, No Doubt, etc. will definitely recognize some of the influences. Most of all, this EP is definitely a precursor to more new music to come soon!"
Talay's self-titled EP is out on June 2.
