Members: Ian, Nick & Andy
Thats right, this is a preview of the album art for the e.p. Not yet finalised, but I just wanted to see it on screen.
Kilndown are a 3-piece "rock" band from Canterbury, Ian Mckee is the guitarist and vocalist, Nick Bellamy is the bassist, and Matt Smith is the drummer.
They were formed by drummer, Matt, in University when he decided he needed to be involved in a band. Coincidentally, Ian was living in the same corridor, and was already in a band who were in the process of splitting up. Matt and Ian advertised for a bassist, and Nick was quite clearly the man for the job. They formed "Futile".
After a couple of years under the name "Futile", they came back after a summer break, and decided it was time to change both the name, and direction. The name changed to "Kilndown" and direction? So far unknown.
They draw their influences from a vast array of bands. Artists such as Biffy Clyro are on constant rotation, so are other influences such as most of Jonah Matranga's music, At The Drive-In, and Radiohead. Recently they have drawn influences from Reuben and Bloc Party.
Apart from the long-term aim to play on the same stage as their idols, world-domination has always been in the back of their minds.
They have just completed work on their e.p. "We Are The Sum of What We Have Learnt", and are looking to expand their gigging horizons.
