ZippoS, is a rock band that started out in september 2007.




Jox, band's lead vocalist, met Eddie at high school. Eddie played electric guitar and both of them loved music. After graduation, they usually hanged out and, sometimes, they played some acoustic covers of their favorite bands.

A couple of years later, Jox met Rafa at Industrial Design School. Rafa and Jox shared almost the same musical tastes which made them good friends. Rafa and Jox started to meet occasionally to drink some beers and listen to good bands; Eddie joined them after a while.

The three of them hanged out a lot, so they decided to make music together. Jox had been playing acoustic guitar for a while so he decided to play bass for the band. Rafa and Eddie took the electric guitars and so they started to write some tunes, not a big deal since they had no drummer.


As time passed by, they met Mauro in the same school. He was an excelent drummer from Cartagena who traveled to Barranquilla to study Industrial Design. Mauro had played drums for a Goth metal band in his city but now, he was free, so he decided to join the other guys to play some music.

Being from different cities around the country, each one of them bring very important things to the musical spectrum of the band. Having to encounter bad as well as good moments, they played in festivals, contests, colleges among many gigs, they made their way throught the local punk rock scene earning respect and many lovely fans.

Jox came out with the name for the band, because he really liked the wind-proof lighters brand. He thought it would be a great idea to name the band after the brand, adding the “s” for legal purposes.

The band recorded a mini EP with their 3 first songs by the end of the year which helped them to achieve their reputation as a good band country-wide. By summer of 2008, they recorded their first demo for the band's new song called Sophia (Random Records), which will be featured in the music player of their MySpace.
