Dear Zao fans, this is a profile for the days of Zao on solidstate Records, which I think is when Zao was at it's best. So if you are a fan of albums like "Parade of Chaos" and "Liberate te ex Inferis", this is a profile for you.

Zao

Zao formed in 1993 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The name comes from greek, meaning "life", and in Latin "Alive". The band is well known for it's many member changes to a point where no original members remain.
Zao started out as a 100% christain band. They were very open about their faith. Through time, the band prefers to be secular.
Zao recorded a series of demos and EPs when they were starting out. They later signed to solidstate Records. In 1997 they released their first full length album called "The Splinter Shards The Birth of Seperation". The line up for this album was Jesse Smith, Roy Goudy, Shawn Jonas, and Mic Cox.
By the next album, three of the members left and Jesse gained Daniel Weyandt, Brett Detar, and Russ Codgell for the band. The album was called "Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest". This was released in 1998.
In 1999, they released the album "Liberate te ex Inferis", which meant "Save Yourself from Hell." This album then featured Scott Mellinger and Rob Horner. Brett Detar was gone.
In 2000, Zao came out with the album "Selftitled", which added some techno sounds. This album featured the members Daniel Weyandt, Rob Horner, Scott Mellinger, and Jesse Smith.
In 2002, a great album was released, titled "Parade of Chaos". This album only had three members, Daniel Weyandt, Scott Mellinger, and Jesse Smith.
In 2003, they made a remake of a demo by the old Zao line up way back. It was called "All Else Failed". This remake was deffinently different from the original demo because it featured the different vocalist.
Also in 2003, Zao released their final release on Solidstate Records. It was a mix of all their best songs on Solidstate. It was titled "Legendary". A perfect title for a perfect band.
Zao later signed to Ferret Records, thus ends my biography.

Zao Rocks on forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
