Newcastle five-piece yourcodenameis:milo started their journey in 2005 as darlings of the underground, subject of a fierce signing battle and architects of rapturously-received debut Ignoto. With their unique genreless mangle, they melded post-punk, hardcore, grime and protest folk into something distinctly, vitally their own. In the following years intense touring amassed a fanbase - the so-called Milo-tary - into teaming ranks and the band released a collaboration album with esteemed contemporaries which was as well-regarded as it was ambitious. In 2007 They Came From The Sun was recorded under Newcastles Byker Bridge in the studio purchased with their pre-V2 major label spoils, affectionately named Like A Cat, Like A Fox. The album roars with glorious melodies, from galloping surf to dirty grooves and brave, throbbing electronica. Its an album that indicates that this is finally looking to be the year in which British rock bands with giant riffs and bigger imaginations finally claim the musical nation as their own.
