WEATHERBOX BIOGRAPHY:

Doghouse Records has a history of discovering and bringing to light the next sound in alternative / progressive rock, and Weatherbox is the most recent testament to the independent labels insighteliciting a much needed innovation in music and passion in its results.

Weatherbox is made up of four bandmates; Brian Warren (vocals, guitar), Lowell Heflin (guitar), Dave Silverman (bass), and Cory Stier (drums) who came together in the sleepy southern Californian town of San Diego. Upon listening to their EP release The Clearing (which came out November 7 on Doghouse), you may ask yourself how a group of southern California friends came up with lyrics that conjure a fantastic alternate reality that many can only achieve with hallucinogensand the truth is, we dont really know and may just have to wait until the bands full length debut American Art (released May 8, 2007).

As with southern Californian mornings when the fog recedes from the beach to show a glistening shoreline, The Clearing [not so] quietly shines through the clutter of todays rock music (much in the same way that Doghouse alumni, Say Anything, have done).

Weatherbox's American Art is 13 songs of swelling love and bear-like strength. The album is a stunning first step from this San Diego band destined for greatness. Gigantic guitar hooks and earth-shattering drum work seem to burst through a cloud of smoke. All the while, vocalist / songwriter Brian Warren provides a hefty dose of eclectic melodies with lyrics that harken back to a bygone psychedelic era. Equal parts progressive rock and symphonic guitar ambience, an undeniable statement.

In the epic words of Weatherbox frontman, Brian Warren, Thats legit.

WEATHERBOX IN THE PRESS:

"Buy this record with confidence; champion it with conviction; memorize it with dedication. But most importantly, love it unquestionably - it will change your life if you let it. 4.5-out-of-5" - Alternative Press, June 2007

"Powerful, infectious and totally self produced Weatherbox have recorded a collection of tracks which will certainly turn more than a few heads. Check out their indie-pop raging shenanigans right here you'll be pleasantly surprised." - MySpace, July 2007

"In a genre where either being unique or having money behind them is paramount to success, Weatherbox tends to be closer to the former." - AbsolutePunk, October 2006

I read an article about Weatherbox in Alt Press. Don't think it sang enough praises, though. "The Clearing" is one of my favorite songs, still. There was a period of time when it was on every mix I made. May 19
