When We Are The Emergency were deciding on a name, they had no idea just how much of an accurate prediction they were making.
Fast forward 5 years and the six-piece Perth outfit have well and truly backed up their bold name by becoming one of the cityâs finest bands, sharing the stage with scene-leaders Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Emery and Tonight Alive (to name a select few), as well as playing their own sell-out shows and even showcasing their diversity by headlining their own acoustic show.
Since their inception, We Are The Emergency have been at the forefront of the nationâs âscreamoâ movement, but after lineup changes in 2011 WATE now find themselves boasting a much more mature sound. Whilst they still maintain elements of the sound that earned them such a strong cult following, they have adopted stronger elements of pop-infused rock that highlight the bands musicianship and unique 3-way vocal harmonies.
After working with American producer Kris Crummet (Closure In Moscow, Emarosa, Dance Gavin Dance) on their first 3 releases, WATE opted to stay home and record their well-received Rations EP with Dave Parkin (Karnivool, Jebediah, Sugar Army). The band released two singles from the EP, Splinters and Bring You Home, and again performed packed out launch shows in their hometown.
We Are The Emergency are currently working on a full-length record that continues on from their musical progression shown on Rations, and are planning on an early 2013 release. Until then, WATE are still primed and ready to continue to put on shows that since day one their hometown of Perth has struggled to keep a secret.
