Originating in early 2002, Wasted Saturday began with a group of high school classmates aspiring to participate in the school's battle of the bands. After two successful years on the local circuit, the band disbanded due to its members going their separate ways. After a two year hiatus, co-founder Sal Germano Jr was looking to get back into the live music scene and assembled a group of musicians loosely based on the original material written during the WS days. After a few years of rotating lineups and name changes, Sal once again decided to bring back to life Wasted Saturday. Instead of the four piece that was last scene in 2003, WS returned as a three piece with Sal, the only original member, handling guitar and vocal duties, new bassist Chris Weinstein, and drummer Jay Taylor. Playing their first show in five years, WS competed in the 2008 Jersey Shows Battle of the Bands advancing three rounds into the competition. After a show in May 2008, the band took a five month hiatus before beginning to rehearse once again; this time bringing in a second guitarist, Dan Zimmerman. In February 2009, the band played its first show as a four piece since 2003 and had the opportunity to open for one hell of an up and coming band, Atom Smash. Unfortunately due to some creative differences and personal reasons, drummer Jay Taylor was dismissed from the band shortly after and has been replaced by drummer Steve Goldberg.

With the talented lineup of the latest incarnation of Wasted Saturday, the future for this band looks bright. Planning on competing in the 2009 10th Annual Jersey Shows Battle of the Bands, WS hopes to continue their success rate and advance many rounds. The Battle will not be the only place you will find this group. Keep an eye out for more local dates and some other exciting updates!
