Waking Up East is an Alternative Rock band from Orange County, NY

The band was formed in early September of 2007 by singer/guitarist Jay Indorato, bassist Tommy Morse, lead guitarist Tom Hanley, and drummer Christian Cotter. The quartet immediately began writing in November 2007.

In April 2008 the band began recording their first independently released album "34 Miles To Empty" In Silent Owl Studios located in Florida NY. Joined by the production team of John Collura and Paul Carabello (both formally of the Rock band The Ataris). The album was finished in June 2008.

Armed with a full list of new songs the band started playing out in July 2008.

Waking Up East has played such venues as:
- Rye Playland Amusement Park
- Boodles Opera House
- Fontana's (NYC)
- The Bitter End (NYC)
- Don Hills (NYC)
- The Chance Theater

On October 23 2008 the band had their first headlining gig at The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie NY which has held such bands as Nirvana, Blues Traveler, Chevyelle, Sick Puppies, My Chemical Romance, Blink 182, 3rd Eye Blind, and Sublime to name a few.

On February 15 of 2009 the band co headlined The Chance Theater with country music star Jimmy Wayne which sold over 700 tickets.

Waking Up East is currently writing new material and is planning a 55 day east coast tour for starting in July 2009.
