This is THE STRENGTH, THE SOUND, THE SONGS from VOLBEAT, the first release on the newly formed Rebel Monster Record label, a sub-label of Mascot Records.
VOLBEAT is from Copenhagen, Denmark and was formed in October 2001 by Michael Poulsen, who had previously split up the Danish Heavy metal band DOMINUS. During their 10 years of existence Michael Poulsen and DOMINUS released 4 albums.
In 2002 VOLBEAT release their self-titled debut demo. The response was moderate, and it wasn't until the release of their "Beat the meat" demo from 2003 that things really started happening. Songs from the "Beat the meat" demo has been aired on Swedish Radio top 30, and has been one of the ten most played songs with the track "Soulweeper" , and also the French Radio have had the track "Danny & Lucy" on their top 30. Both songs are featured on the debutalbum "The Strength/The Sound/The Songs"..
VOLBEATs debut album "THE STRENGTH/THE SOUND/THE SONGS" is produced by Jacob Hansen (INVOCATOR, RAUNCHY).
VOLBEATs style is said to be a combination of Metallic Rocknroll with a touch of the sixties melodic tunes. Their sound has been described as Hetfield meets Elvis-metal meets Life of agony. Now put this CD on loud and make up your own definition. One thing is certain: VOLBEAT ROCKS !!
On September 1 2008 will release Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood, the new studio album of the Danish Metal ân Rollers. It comes out on Mascot Records and follows up the succesful masterpiece Rock The Rebel/Metal The Devil, which achieved platinum status in homecountry Denmark as the first Danish heavy rock band ever! Rock the Rebel/Metal The Devil was also album of the month in German magazines Rock Hard, Guitar and Heavy, the Dutch Aardschok, and the French edition of Rock Hard, as well as album of the year in Metal Hammer Germany and Italy. âThe Gardenâs Taleâ, the hit single of âRock The Rebel / Metal The Devilâ has just reached platinum for having been downloaded over 15.000 times.
âGuitar Gangsters & Cadillac Bloodâ is a story about four men travelling trough a god forsaken place somewhere in the US.
The group travels under the name âGuitar Gangsters & Cadillac Bloodâ. Itâs been said of Cadillac Blood, the frontman of the group, that he was found out in the desert in his Cadillac with seven gaping bullet holes in his body and blood all over the place. The lady who found him panicked and went into town to get the sheriff.
When the sheriff arrived at the scene, the body and car were gone.
He and three other obscure men who have to hide from their past and from the law, now travel the outskirts of the desert in the US, roaming from town to town, fuelled by revenge.
Together âGuitar Gangsters & Cadillac Bloodâ take the stage in every town they stop by, from the stage Cadillac Blood hopes to spot the deadman that shot him and left him for dead in the desert.
As they go from town to town they eventually end up in âthe 10 House Cityâ, a small town were few people live. Most of these people gather at a place simply called âThe Barâ were they drink and tell their tales.
The lyrics for 7 songs on âGuitar Gangsters & Cadillac Bloodâ, focus on the people in âThe Barâ and what Cadillac Blood learns from them by observing them. On âGuitar Gangsters & Cadillac Bloodâ the lyrics usually are written from the point of view of the characters found in âThe 10 House Cityâ.
A future album will focus more on the story of Cadillac Blood and the events that lead to him getting shot in the desert..
A cover song of Hank Williams "I'm so lonesome I could cry", which also Elvis sang is featured on the record. Thereâs a guest vocalist on the song "Mary Ann's place", which continues the story of "Danny & Lucy", "Fire song" and âMr and Mrs Ness" from the old albums. Who the guest singer is, will be revealed later.
Also on this record with a cover song of Social Distortion "Making Believe" (originally a Kitty Wells song, but the version is inspired on the one recorded by Social Distortion).
Michael Poulsen: âThese are without a doubt the strongest songs we have ever wrote, you can hear all our inspirations from different kind of music such as Punk Rock, Heavy Rock, Country, Metal, Rock´N´Roll, Pop Rock, Blues, Gospel, Garage and bla bla bla :-)â.
Now 1,5 year after the release of the sensational âRock The Rebel / Metal The Devilâ, is set to release their 3rd studio album.
