The story behind the acoustic EP 1. The Empire State
The Empire State was the song that initially drove me to pursue View From an Airplane. It was the song that got me to ditch the solo act and bring it into a full band. I met a girl who only had a month left in Massachusetts before leaving for New York. I was inspired by the situation and wrote The Empire State. Sort of a going away gift to her, if you will. In the end, it was just another chapter.
2. The One Thing
The one thing is the product of a sleepless night and no where to be. Its an older song, written in 2007, but its a song I've always held close to me seeing as its the first and only one I ever wrote with my good friend, Nick Santino (or as some of you may know him, A Rocket To The Moon). This will always be one of my personal favorites and I am so excited to officially release it.
3. The Ghost
The Ghost was written in the Summer of 2008. It wasn't necessarily written about or for someone, but inspired by someone for sure. It was one of the best Summers of my life. Everything about it made it something to remember. All of my friends were living in Boston so most of my days and nights were spent there wandering aimlessly. Admittedly, I took what she and I had too seriously. I jumped the gun, pushed her away. But everything happens for a reason. Every step I've taken has led me to where I am and though the song may sound like a plea for what we had to return, if given the chance to rewrite it, I wouldn't change a thing.
