Biography
In the end of 2004, Marcos (ex. In Purity), decides to leave the project where he was (Soul Despair), to form a project of his own.
Quickly the invitations were made to Tiago Marques (drummer in Thrifty); Nuno Alex to keyboards (ex. In Purity, and Full Moon Child); Sergio Osorio (ex. Soul Despair) and Joao Rupio (Fallen Dreams) to guitars, and Bruno Salgueiro (ex. Soul Despair), for the bass.
In the beginning of January of 2005, URBAN TALES was born, with influences that vary since Anathema, Paradise Lost, Ever Eve, Entwine, Charon, Icon and the Black Roses, Opeth, etc.
With all members gathered, the band of Lisbon decides to record a pre-demo, and it was with that first work that U. T. was invited by Ricardo Capristano (very known by his sport radical works, documentaries of rally races) to integrate a song in the DVD "MAIS1", A sport film that combines the most awesome surf images, followed by the songs of the newest Portuguese bands (The temple; Urban Tales, Cain, Fiona @ Forty, Sk6, etc).
After some months of rehearsals, writings and recordings; they decide to record an official demo that intends to arrive at the publishing companies.
However and still in the recordings for the demo, the first misfortune appears... Joo Rupio told the band he had to leave due to entered in the university of sound in Porto (ESMAI). Distant place to conciliate with the band. For his place and by an indeterminate time entered Andr Afonso (Falling Dusk and Profusion).
At the moment and while the demo does not come out, the band prepares to record their first clip (In Purity), with the total support of the School of Audio and Communication ETIC _ and carried through by the winner of one of the awards of Alcatel REC 2004, Joo Miguel Correia.
The official demo and the first video of Urban Tales, "In purity", are out, GO CHECK THEM!!!!
The official demo was very well received by the media and the public, with a huge praise on the creativity and the strenght of the band, nominating Urban Tales as the future reference of rock metal in Portugal" and achieving serious radio airplay all around the world, with the single "In purity". Due to the fantastic reaction to the song , Etic s headmaster and the band got the idea to create a fifteen minute short film, about the story of the song; the music video is available in the original version at our site, www.theurbantales.com.

Some changes happened in the Urban Tales formation. Due to professional reasons, we had to say goodbye to Ricardo Reis and Pedro Barradas. We wish all the best to them... For their places now joined us: Bruno Domingues (guitars) and Joo Coelho (Drums).

HI THERE:
Few months passed until Urban Tales and their label gathered the decision
for a final date to release the so long awaited album "Diary of a No ".
So the official date for the release of the album is:
15 of October for Portugal
22 of October for the Rest of the World
This album is quoted by the members of the band as "a risky work covered of
sad songs and many melancholic environments... We hope that UT message fits
in everyone who will listen this first work".
Named as "Diary of a No", we think that this can be the first step for a
major career of this young band that since the beginning always tried to
show quality and responsibility in everyone of their acts. Produced by Bruno
Fingers, Ricardo Espinha and Marcos Csar, this album will count with several
guests: Melo D, Johnny Icon (Icon and the Black Roses), Andr Brito
(Spinous), Tiago Hollow (witchbreed), Jon Van Dave (Shadowsphere), Lus
(Enchantya), Marina Caldas (journalist of RTP2 and RTPN), Cladia Dias,
between many others.
This Portuguese band now join their strengths to the world wide label
Burning Star Records (with distribution in all the world: USA, Turkey,
France, Japan, UK, etc etc), while in Portugal the album will be delivered
by three different labels : Zona Musica (one of the biggest mainstream
labels in Portugal), Recital Records (the biggest metal label in Portugal)
and for the Azores Island JPs Management .
"Diary of a No", will have a first luxury edition that will have 1 CD and a
DVD (will contain a documentary, 2 clips, more than 300 photos and lots of
comic things). The second and normal edition also will count with a great
surprise for all UT fans and friends.
Stay tuned with this band named as the revelation band of 2006 already with
airplay in national and international radios, TV, and embraced by all
Medias. Urban Tales have many surprises for you.

As you know, Marcos, the lead singer of the band, broke two foot fingers two weeks ago... What we thought it was a simply injury, is becoming a great pain in the ass. Marcos is in need of cirurgy, that will happen in this July, 25th. It seams there's a bone that is complaining to go to their place...
With this tragic fact the band really needs to cancel all their duties for now, inclusive their dream gig - The Red Open Air (we saw the photos, great great place) ... The band is devastated with the fact, but knows that Marcos won't be able to walk for some long weeks.
So, in the name of the band, we would love to thank all the love shown from the organization and specially Sergey... All was made for the gig to happen, and the patience shown was great... Thank you so much and hope in the future we can go and rock in Crimea...
Its the second show Urban Tales sadly cancel, but one thing we can assure WE WILL PLAY IN THE MIDAS (September, 15th) even without one foot of Marcos...
A big thanks also for the understanding of the owner of Rock Lab, Pedro... Hope in November happens...
