...for Your name and Your renown

Isaiah 26:8 says, "Yes, LORD, walking in the way of Your laws, we wait for you; Your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.

I read this verse for the first time about a month ago. And for the past month it just hasn't left my thoughts. The conviction, the prospects, the power of living out that verse just wouldn't leave me alone. To truly live a life walking in obedience of God for the purpose of nothing but the spreading of His name, and the greatness, and majesty that He possess.

"How great is our God, sing with me how great is our God, and ALL the world will see how great, how great is our God."

To live not for what I can gain, or what kind of name I can make for myself, or the band I play in, or for what people will remember me for; to live for God's gain, and for what people will remember Him for, to live completely for someone else's remembrance. To have that be the overwhelming desire of my heart. WOW. Can you imagine? Can you imagine the impact that could be had on peoples lives.

I'm a sinner, and I'm a selfish sinner. I want what I want, and I want to be remembered for generations to come for something "great" that I did. But how could I even begin to dream of doing something more memorable than 1) Creating the entire universe (which has not even been fully measured because it is so large) and everything in it. 2) Making and caring about each individual person even to the point of knowing the exact number of hairs on each ones head. 3) Sending your own son to die for the people who do not want you so that you may spend eternity with the ones you created and love unconditionally.

The nerve it must take for me to believe that anything I do here could be more deserving of remembrance than that.

My point is simply this: life IS NOT ABOUT ME, and ITS NOT ABOUT YOU, its ALL about GOD and ALL about sharing, with everyone we come in contact with, the Great and Awesome things He has done for us, and for everyone willing to accept Him. How fulfilling a life we could live if only we lived it for His name and His renown.
