Five years of playing numerous local venues and even some abroad have seen this Atlanta-based quartet through many changes musically. Starting sometime between seventh and eighth grade, the original band consisted of a fifth member and played mainly at their local church, the place at which they happened to meet. The bands lineup these days sees Jonathan Joiner at the lead vox and rhythm guitar, Cody Davis at BGV and lead axe, Travis Hunt dropping the low end, and Taylor Latham bringing in the beats. As the years have gone on, the focus of the music has morphed into an alternative pop rock that appeals to a broad spectrum of fans, both the young and those approaching the upper years.

After their first CD, All These Thoughts, was, economically speaking, a failure, they picked up the pieces and embarked on a journey to release an album they could be proud of. Two years and several payments later, Under the Altar released Out of the Dark. Their sophomore effort was recieved with open arms and has continued selling rapidly as new listeners are finding that they like what they hear. And for this reason, they asked to plug in the fact that you can buy an album on iTunes, CDBaby.com, and DigStation.com, so I did. Playing as many shows as humanly possible is the core of their mission, and, let me tell you, this band has the energy of a six pack of Monsters plus one Red Bull, enjoying every second of performing live for their fans. As new people are finding out about what UTA has been doing, their fan base has grown steadily, especially since the release of Out of the Dark. Being so young and ready to connect with the masses, these four have plans of continuing their mission to give every person possible a chance to enjoy their music, no matter the cost. Many have stated and agreed, it will be a long time before this train will stop.
