Ultra Fine Point Groove (featuring most of Captain Coconut) returns to the Knitting Factory's Tap Bar (we're moving on up!). Come by for the band's last summer club date. The band will feature Dan Knobler (guitar), Peter Negroponte (drums), Matt Porter (keys), Zack Rosen (bass) with Matt Chaisson (alto sax) and Danny Rivera (baritone sax). It'll be a night of laid back, funked up, jammed out, soulful music... you don't want to miss it.

UFPG is back in session! Look for them around NYC and Fire Island this summer.

UFPG is a creative improv-oriented funk band. They came together through a series of jam sessions that evolved into a more serious band. From the beginning, there has been an innate connection betweent these young musicians and it shows in their music.

At the core of UFPG is a trio consisting of Daniel Knobler on guitar, Peter Negroponte on drums and Zack Rosen on bass. The three are often joined by fellow musicians Dan Fisher-Lochhead (alto sax), Matt Porter (keys, Matt Chaisson (tenor and soprano sax) and Danny Rivera (baritone sax). Although they have never put out a real album, they have many recorded jam sessions and one live show available. Ultra Fine Point Groove has taken the stage at several noted NYC clubs including The Knitting Factory and The Cutting Room and are active only durring school vacations due to geographical college issues. UFPG @ Knitting Factory - 12/30/05 - We had a great time, great crowd came out, we got quite a little storm brewing at the Tap Bar. The next night we went out to Brooklyn for our first NYE gig and had some sick jams. A good time was had by all.

UFPG has a CD: Live @ The Cutting Room. This was recorded in June on a gig at NYC's "The Cutting Room." It is mostly jams but does feature a quite a few new original tunes. Contact the band to get yourself a copy - UltraFinePointGroove@yahoo.com
