Torch The Altar was a Christian Post-Hardcore band from Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. The band has decided to move on and pursue music in other ways, but the memories still remain. Thanks to everyone who has helped the band in any way or form during its time.

Behind The Name- In the old testament times before Jesus, sacrifices and offerings were made in forms like livestock and crops, etc... Pretty much giving the best you have (physically have) to God. When Jesus came He placed Himself on the altar as the PERFECT sacrifice, the PERFECT Lamb. He said that there will no longer be a need of crops or livestock to be sacrificed. He has done away with the altar of old, and brought forth a new altar to which we now must lay our VERY LIVES upon, to live for Him because He died for us. "Torch the Altar" also carries a referance to Elijah and his showdown with the Baal priests. The challenge was to build an altar and see who's god would set it aflame first. The Baal priests danced and chanted and cut themselves and no fire. Elijah then prays and... FIRE! Check out the whole story in 1 Kings 18:16-45
