Members: Jesse Luoma, Ben Luoma, Rochelle Luoma, Sebastian Witherspoon, Ryan Earp, and Nate Mattson
The Very People are a rock/soul/funk/pop band playing in and around Duluth, Mn. In just a few months they have scored a large local following and would like to expand to other parts of the state and country. With influences such as Stevie Wonder, Prince, Cat Stevens, Peter Gabriel, Chaka Kahn, The Strokes, The Meters, The Police, Bob Marley, Dave Matthews, James Brown, and many, many others, The Very People play fun, funky, and memorable songs highlighted by great vocals and exciting musicianship.
The Very People started when singer/songwriter Jesse Luoma and a few members of the popular Duluth cover band Knockout Jones hooked up with Sebastian Witherspoon from the award-winning Soul Prophets, and recruited Ryan Earp--the bass player for Nothing Much.
After a few months of practicing, writing material, and arguing about band names, the band played its first show at Duluth's Tap Room to a packed house and they've been drawing crowds ever since.
They've recorded a four-song demo of originals which can be heard and downloaded here and are currently in the preliminary stages of recording a full-length cd.
