After two years you would think a band that is cunning and clever with their craft would eventually be lifted out of the mosaiac of bands into some form of acclaim whether it be popular, critical, or legendary. That is not the case with The Sweet Repose. After only a year, the band gathered a sum of momentum and elicited a buzz among the Orange County and Hollywood music scene. A typical band might lift off after such speed is gained in their development, but The Sweet Repose instead downshifted and downsized. This sunk the band into a repose of their own and their sleepy inertia has since been overcome. While they have not yet etched their place in rock history, their music has found a special niche in each of the three members' lives. Drew, Greg, and Tommy have dedicated intellect, emotions, and personalities into each song. Every song has a unique and ecclectic quality to it that reflect each of their tastes and personalities. They have spent a lot of time on writing and rehearsing since the release of their 2005 six song EP. They have reworked old songs and developed new songs and after a brief venture into the studio in December of 05, have recorded three songs to be released in the Spring of 2006. This album holds potential and promise to The Sweet Repose. The aim was to capture the character of the songs they selected.
Their patient commitment to their songs has lifted their performance above what it was in the past. Music writer, Robert Kinsler without even hearing of them before, and seeing them by chance at one of their performances in Fullerton, has considerd them to have "quietly become one of the best young bands in Orange County." Since the revue they have been compared to classic bands like The Police, U2, Journey, Rush, and Bauhaus; bands whom have slid themselves into genuine creativity without the bounds of genre. Ultimately, a listener will hear their favorite music in what they play because of their extensive influence that goes beyond what they typically list. Even if the group continues to move quietly about the landscape of American music, The Sweet Repose is a band that one shouldn't let pass by. Their music requires attention in order to understand the genuine and special relationship had between Drew, Greg, and Tommy that is woven into their music's complex identity.
