- Grubbs and "Friends" began by recording a 12.5 song full-length demo in January 2001 (while they were becoming a band). The cd was released on April Fool's Day of the same year.
- Known for their unpredictable songs and even more unpredictable shows, they soon were raising the bar on comedy... uhh... music. They've performed with the likes of robots, dancing dogs, and even The Fluffy Furry Funny-Looking Friends.
- In 2002, they became known as 'The Spatulas'. Their song, "Holy Cow" was rerecorded to become an animated cartoon. The Spatulas were also invited to perform at Lowe's Motor Speedway's Dirt Track with the popular Christian band, Audio Adrenaline.
- In 2003 (and again in 2005), they appeared on the award-winning television show, 'The John Schilling Show'.
- In 2005, Grubbs & the Spatulas strike back after a year on hiatus. They return with a new line-up, new songs, new smells, and new larger props to catapult into the crowd. Catch them while you can!
