THE SELF RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS

The Self Righteous Brothers are neither self-righteous, nor are they brothers. Their name is merely an effort to lift the spirits of the heavy-hearted. What they are is a soul inspired, experimental rock band. You may say they, "play what you kids like to call post-punk, but without without a lot of the forced irony." You may also say they are "best described as the musical equivalent of Bugs Bunny." Or, you could say that they have created a "strange and wonderful record" in their debut release, "In Loving Memory". What is certain about the The Self Righteous Brothers, is that they have a very eclectic sound, which derives itself directly from their rich, respectful knowledge of music history. They spend little time concerning themselves with the continuity of their songs, worrying only about making each song as interesting and unique as possible. This has kept them form becoming yet another band whose hyper-consciousness and ego overshadows their love and respect for music itself.
