TSP fans and friends.....

Hope you enjoy the 4 new tracks from the Upon Impact Promotional CD. Superhero, Crying Myself to Sleep, Jamie's Promise, and Illusion were recorded and mixed at the Chicago School of Music Studios. Accompanying these four new tracks are the demo versions of Tears (purevolume #1 hit) and Clarity (VH1 song of the year finalist).

Background of TSP.....

It began years ago.....being enamoured with music.....growing up listening to Kiss, Cheap Trick, The Cars and Boston......then as a teen playing in bands doing cover songs of Def Leppard, Ratt, White Lion and the Crue. Our band Hustler was very good. But we needed to be great, like other Jersey bands who were a few more years senior to us and fully focused on making it big, ie. Bon Jovi, Skid Row and Trixter to name a few....but at the time we were too young and doing it for the fun reasons, not for the real one.....making it our livelihood.

Today, things are different, but still the same. My Chemical Romance, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Fall Out Boy and Nocturnal Me are the new hot names of today. My interest in their music is as strong as for those of the past and this, along with a personal episode, inspired me to begin to write my own music.

The birth of The Sarno Project.....

After years of not playing, I began to tool around on the weekends with my guitar, just for kicks. I then bought an in-home mix unit to record some riffs that I liked. One thing led to another and I began to spend alot of "basement time" as I began to record full length tracks.

As I started to seriously record original tracks and share them with my close friends for objective feedback, I needed a place for the vast majority to review my work...purevolume.com was the answer...I set up an account, put together a few promos...and we were off!

The first track, Jamies Promise (rock version), was well received in the summer of 06, but honestly, wasn't my best production-quality demo. Then came Tears during the fall of 06. Tears hit the top of the purevolume charts in its demo form.....a tremendous amount of positive feedback began to come in on this track, which catapulted me to write more songs for the next several months. From that point on, each demo track that was promoted was received as strong or stronger than its predecessor.

Then a defining moment came.....I received The VH-1 Song of the Year Finalist honor with Clarity in 2007.

"Song of the Year is excited to recognize Michael for his exceptional songwriting ability for the rock song Clarity. Michael competed against ten of thousands of songwriters from all over the world for this honor, being judged by the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners. When asked what the meaning behind the song is, Michael commented that Clarity is about being true to yourself and not changing because of outside influences or opinions. It is about doing the right thing, not because it is popular, but because it is the right thing to do...today and every day."

In 2008, the promotional CD was completed.....Upon Impact.....with the hit single "Superhero" poised for the Spiderman IV soundtrack.
