Hello. The Orange Velvets play Quirky Indie Rock. Have you ever wondered what The Violent Femmes would sound like if they had distorted guitars, a horn section, and read lots of Dr. Seuss books? Well, heres your chance to find out. The Orange Velvets were formed in 2005 by Jesse Lurie (vocals, guitar, harmonica) and Brian Evans (drums). They recorded their 8 song EP The Orange Velvets EP at Studio West in San Diego, and began performing in 2007. Jesse Lurie was born and raised in Illinois. Over the past several years he has written well over 100 songs. In addition to music, he likes to cook and paint. Brian Evans grew up in San Diego listening to Sublime. In addition to drumming, he also enjoys downhill skateboarding and candies from the Philippines. His greatest wish is for a 3rd arm. Kevin Jones plays the bass. He grew up on the same street as Brian. His goal in life is to be the 1st man to walk on the moon. Matt Shoaf plays saxophone and flute. He recently earned his masters degree in music and moved to San Diego from Kansas City. Jonathan Piper is the newest member of the band. He plays tuba and is working on his PhD.
