2001-Present
Sainte.Marie,PQ based indie-punkrock band.
The Opposite project was started by young french canadian students persevering in acheiving mutal goals in the process of making, performing and recording music.
First started as a quintet back in 2001 influenced by such acts as Hot Water Music, The Get Up Kids, Alkaline Trio, The Ataris and The Used, they did their first gig in their hometown of Sainte-Marie. The Opposite recorded a first demo in March 2002 in Quebec City with Keith Mcmullen from Inner Struggle.
Then they parted away with bassist David Talbot and forming a 4 man-band, playing a few shows in their local area. The band went back recording their first E.P. including 7 songs in May 2003 at New Rock Studio in Quebec City .
After another line-up change with the departure of guitarist Daniel Faucher, the band kept playing as a trio for a year long, toured Quebec and Ontario provinces selling merch and drinking boose. In december 2004, The Opposite had a new member, a new face in the family. Keven Cloutier who was sam's long time friend joined in as guitarist bringing more edges and a more mature and powerful sound to the band.
The Opposite played shows in Quebec supporting bands as Raised Fist, Choke, Goldfinger, Fifth Hour Hero, Saintes Catherines, Federal, Somehow Hollow, Belvedere, Sixty Stories, Closer Than Kin, The Reason, Death By Stereo and more.
