The dance/electro and punk music genres have confined themselves for too long, the boundaries that once separated them have been shaken by a new band: The New Cities.

In the summer of 2005, six guys spent countless hours in a windowless basement rehearsal room and found themselves embarking on the beginning of something huge. Thus, The New Cities was born. With no distractions from the outside world the band labored to create their own brand of dance-punk, and their catchy vocal melodies combined with the intensity of the rhythm section and the groove of the two keyboards are proof that their dedication was not in vain. The New Cities unique sound is a union of fusions and blends: the subversive energy of punk, mixed with the sexy rhythms of dance/disco, and a dash electroclash.

In only six months, The New Cities have recorded their self-titled EP with Montreal producer Steve Nadeau (Venus 3), toured five Canadian provinces, played sold out shows in their hometown Trois-Rivieres, and have become a familiar name in the Toronto scene. These are the results of the non stop energetic hard work of the bandâ€™s members.

Their captivating sound caught the attention of Sum 41 producer Greig Nori, who is now managing the band and producting their new album. This is due to the impressive live performances and the exceptional professionalism The New Cities has shown resulting in them opening for many big name bands such as Simple Plan, Sum 41, Hedley, Mobile, Metric, Malajube, Princess Superstar, Faber Drive and Ill Scarlett to name a few.

Free MOD CLUB night again!

That's right folks, once again The New Cities are taking MOD Club Toronto! December 9th 2006!!!! We also have a big fat guestlist for you all again. If you were there last time, you KNOW how fun that was!! You know the drill, but in case you don't, here it is again! All you have to do to get on this limited FREE!!! Guestlist is myspace message (or email thenewcities@hotmail.com) your FULL Name, and the number of guests you'd like to bring, we will send you a confirmation email letting you know you got on the list, and you're all set!! *note: This is a 19+ event, and ALL guestlist members MUST be at MOD Club before 11pm for admittance.

New Website + Album!

Hey Guys,

We now have a new website online at www.thenewcities.com ... go check that out and give us feedback on how good it looks!! Look around quite often because it will be updated a lot... especially the links section that will change every week according to what we do and what we listen to at that particular time.

In other more exciting news, we're happy to finally announce that the band will be heading to Toronto in the next month to begin working on our full length release. We are lucky enough to be working with Greig Nori (producer / manager of Sum 41, Threat Signal, Surplus Sons...) and Matt Brann (drummer for Avril Lavigne) when we get there, so I would look for a great sounding album.
