*New Paramore cover features Lizz Lee on vocals!*

I started this project to try and experiment with new styles of music. Although A Silver Medley had different styles in each song, we definately had a unique sound. With this project, I want to try to escape that sound and create a brand new one. Mix in a little rap, a little blues, a little jazz, and a little electronica along with that same acoustic sound from A Silver Medley and you get The Moonshine High.

Some Chase Fate, Others Escape

Firstly, i'd like to clear up any plagiarizing issues. If you are at all familiar with the band Underoath, you probably know that they have a song called "Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape". If you did know that, you're probably pissed off at me for basically stealing their song title. So i'd like to take this time to admit that, yes, i did get the idea for the name of this song from Underoath, but it's only because that song is one of my favorite songs of all time. For "Some Chase Fate, Others Escape", I invited a few friends over to help me create something crazy. Matt Bucelli and I spent what seemed like endless hours recording and mixing the music to this track, and after countless red bulls and bags of cheetos, we ended up with what we hope others will consider a masterpiece. After the music was finally done, Dan Kramer, Lizz Lee, and Gina Caradonna (gina if i spelled that wrong i am really, really sorry) came over to help me write the lyrics and melody to the song. We decided to base the topic around the idea of people going away to college and coming back a completely different person, in this case for the worst. Dan and Gina are kind of singing back and forth to each other in the verses, so listen to the lyrics to hear their replies to eachother. Dan and Gina were vocalizing the thoughts of the guy and girl in a broken relationship. In the 2nd verse, Dan sings "Could a simple change in lifestyle really leave you so distracted? Is your future so entruiging - enough to justify your actions?" Gina then responds "Well i never thought that you would be a product of the world's conformity/ Bound by the life you swore you'd never lead". When people break up due to college, they often create an image in their head of what kind of a person their former significant other has become, and that's exactly what Dan and Gina are doing. It really isn't the distance created by college that is causing so much tension in their relationship, it's a combination of their misperception of each other and lack of communication. One of my favorite lines in the song is "Is time your reason for change?" Often when people are accused of changing, they claim that they really haven't changed at all, but rather the time apart has distorted the memory you had of them. Change isn't necessarily a good or bad thing, but don't let new lifestyles or environments warp your personality.

The Changeup

Ever been to a party and meet a girl or guy who is all up on your shit? If he/she is semi-goodlooking, this can be a wonderful thing, however, if that person is...not so good looking, it can get really creepy and annoying. This is basically what this song is about. Granted, i went a little overboard with it but you get the point. As shallow as this sounds, when you're tipsy you're usually only looking for someone to be an enjoyable makeout partner...or more.. for the night. So if they aren't sexually appealing and they keep following you around, you can find yourself quickly changing from the hunter to the hunted. The best way to get out of such an awkward situation is simply to find someone else to satisfy their sexual desires. So, ladies and gentlemen, if they call for the heater, throw em the changeup!

Aren't You?

First let me explain a few things. I'm a cheerleader..yes....a cheerleader. I do flips and toe touches and throw girls up in the air. But don't let that fool you! I love girls more than i could possibly express. Anyway, over the summer a coach at my gym unexpectedly died. He was only in his mid 20s and no one saw it coming. I didn't know him personally too well, however i could tell how good of a person he was by how it impacted everybody at the gym. People from all over showed up at the funeral, many of them from other teams and organizations. I wrote this song to portray what i thought his close friends were feeling like. i've been in a similar situation, so i could kind of relate to their feelings of grief. In the chorus of the song, the lyrics go "Send me a card, send me anything with your love/ Give me a sign that you're looking down from above" After someone close to you dies, all you want is to be able to see them again or somehow know that they are better off where they are now. One of the worst stages in grief is denial, and that's where the title of this song comes from. At the end of the song i sing "This must be all a joke, you're comin home tomorrow, aren't you?" When something like this happens, initially you just feel like there's no way that something so terrible could happen. Unfortunately it does, even to the most righteous and morally balanced people. Check out the lyrics for more detail.

Who Said Patience Is A Virtue?

Everybody has a limit to how much bullshit they can take before they finally snap. Now i'm normally not a very violent person. I don't punch walls or break things when i get mad, i just write songs. Initially, i try to to talk things out with a person who is aggrivating. The lyrics in the 1st verse go something like "I used to try to find a way through it, just talk it out/ But lately it just seems as if you won't listen, you're just too worried about yourself" However, after a certain someone finally pushed me over the edge, all i wanted to do was beat their face in until they finally realized how selfish they were. In the 2nd verse i sing "i can think of a way that we can fix this/ It involves a parking lot and my fist" It's a simple song with a simple concept, but if you ever feel an extreme hatred towards someone, let this tune give you a little ventilation.

It's Good To Be Alive

I was sitting in my room one day and i started thinking about how much everyone complains. We tend to complain about everything, whether it's the gas prices, the weather, how hard school is, how we never have enough money, etc... All these things made me start thinking about how many good things there are about life that we take for granted everyday. Anyone who even has the ability to go on the internet and listen to these songs has it much better than he or she thinks. It's simple things like driving, eating, sleeping on a matress, having clean cloths, family, loving, kissing, and breathing that we all (including myself) subconsciously tend to just expect to be there. One of the lines in the chous says "At least you wake up everyday". The more i thought about how unappreciative most of society is for just being alive the more i began to get pissed off. So i wrote this song to attempt to make anyone who listens to it wake up and be more content with their lives just for the simple fact that they're alive. "Oh, oh it's time to appreciate the little things you take for granted in life/ So sing along to the song that's meant to make the gluttons open their eyes"

Deceptive Sway

The original idea of this song was created by a friend of mine who had a drug problem. Throughout high school my friends and i kept getting the false impression that he was getting better with his addiction. However, even after rehab he went back to his same old ways. "I guess the rehab didn't help. Or maybe you didn't help yourself? You didn't even let the ones who love you get the chance to try to help" This made me start thinking not only about myself, but anyone who has ever had a friend with a drug problem. It becomes really frustrating to continually offer sympathy to someone who only disregards any and all advice given. In my case, it got to the point where i just became so fed up with the lies about getting better that i completely just lost any sympathy i ever previously had. "In the state you're in, I'm embarrassed to call you my friend."

A Well-Mixed Blend

I tried avoiding talking about this song for as long as i possibly could (as you can see it's at the very bottom of the front page) but i figured i owed anyone who took the time to listen to my music an explanation for everything. It's funny how so many things in the world can piss you off, stress you out, make you sad, frustrated, annoyed, scared, or anxious. However, stupid little things like kissing, smoking cigarettes, or drinking coffee with the person you l _ _ e (i can't bring myself to type the word or i'm gonna throw up all over my computer. You fill in the blanks) can somehow make the world seem like it's a paradise for a time, however short it may be. It's a mystery to me how so many things can make your life shitty, however one thing can make it seem so great. i guess that's just the way God wanted things huh?
