Members: Reed(guitar/vocals), Ian(drums), Jesse(keys/synth), Monte(bass)
The Modern Golem came to its most modern form in October 2010. After honing their skills together, Jesse, Ian, Monte, and Reed started creating songs. These creative individuals are emerging from the Portland scene like a hops vine in March.
The music is known for its diversity and genre bending attitude. While trying to maintain an indie rock feel, they tend to accidentally delve into genres such as old western, jazz, grunge, and ragtime. What sets them apart is how the driving guitar riffs and funky bass lines, with the swingy synth and key attacks, on top of drums that are high paced that seems unnoticeable in even the more layed-back parts of songs.
They have been forming a perfect "Golem" of summer 2011 and will return to playing shows in September. In addition, look out for their video and art projects coming soon. Keep updating, because just like the "Golem" of folklore, these individuals are gaining mass quickly to spur onto the scene and help you through life in their own way...
Make sure to catch their shows coming to a Portland Venue near you. You will surely have a great time.
