THE LAST FELONY

Metal / Death Metal

The Last Felony is fierce, frenetic and ready to attack the airwaves with their first mind-crushing studio release, Aeon of Suffering (Galy, 2008), The disc was recorded in September 2007 with Jef Fortin (Neuraxis/Anonymus) at Badass Studio. TLF is also slated to tour this september with Cryptopsy and and Origin on the Resurgence of an Empire Canada Tour 08.

The Last Felony was conceived during the scorching Montreal summer of 2005 when guitarist Joss Fredette, along with crushing pummeler Vince Menard, bassist Andre Lesveque and vokillist Kevin McCaughey, stumbled upon the axe-ripping talents of Dom Grimard and sealed the deal as a hard-hitting Montreal deathcore outfit. Because of this preliminary band lineup, The Last Felony came together, and was ripped bloody and screaming from the loins of mother metal.

The band's promo, THIS NIGHMARE BEGINS .... ONLY TO REALISE THAT HELL DOES EXIST , was recorded in February 2006, after a series of tight, successful jams and sessions pushed TLF to spread the sickness to as many blossoming local fans as possible. The guys played the first of many Montreal shows, and paved the way for a solid reputation in the Montreal metal scene.

Despite this very encouraging beginning, The Last Felony saw its first line-up change, with the departure of Andre Lesveque and the introduction of Sebastien Painchaud (Ion Dissonance, Nefastus Dies) taking on session bass duties. The Last Felony continued to make several Ontario and Quebec stage appearances during 2006. Ultimately Kevin McCaughey and Sebastien Painchaud left the formation in November 2006 to concentrate on other projects (respectively Ion Dissonance and Nefastus Dies).

After losing two members in a row the band knew some hard times, but Dom, Vince and Joss persevered, writing and working harder than ever to make their vision come to light. New, vicious riffs and beats were written, more brutal and blasting than anything that came before. The quest for a new frontman singer was, despite the band's musical efforts, becoming more and more arduous. Joss, guitarist, gripped the bull by the horns and filled the role himself, thus developing vocals that delved even more into the grating, guttural death style heard from The Last Felony today.

The beginning of 2007 was dedicated to the search for both a new guitarist and bassist, musicians who could hold up to the cohesive collaboration of the remaining TLF members. This resulted in Felix Roberge emerging as second guitarist and Simon Lemieux (ex-Orphans In Coma) taking on bass for a few months. The rest of 2007 was spent composing The Last Felony's first studio album, Aeon of Suffering. Bass was recorded by both Jef Fortin and Sebastien Painchaud. TLF welcomes its newest member to a killer 2008 line-up, featuring bassist Florent Petitti.
