*** Important News About Us !!!!!!!!!! ***
Ok i don't know where to start. I guess it was during our last tour and when we got home. Things were starting to not feel right. When we were back on the island the band was slowing down way too much for us. It was not personal, we still love each other in the only way 3 men can love each other...with respect, admiration, and being honest. The Keepaway has done some amazing things, we have traveled the country playing in many states and met some of the best human beings ever! As a band, we feel that we pushed The Keepaway as far as we could. We are all in different places in our lives now and it was best for us to disband. The Keepaway will always hold a special place in our hearts and we know it will for some of you too. Thanks so much for everything.
So as of July 8th at 7:55 pm on a street in East Meadow NY The Keepaway has decided to call it quits. We love you all !!! Please come back to the page and listen to our music. Eventually we will be telling you all what we are doing from here on out and that sorta thing. Anyone looking to play with any of us should contact us here, we are interested in getting involved in other projects and will try to check this page every once in a while. Joe, Dave, Ryan THE KEEPAWAY
The Keepaway is a band out of Long Island, New York. With a passion for individuality and old school belief in how to reach the masses, The Keepaway have been out on the road since day one and working towards making fans one at a time if necessary.
The band is made up of three members. Dave Ringel, being the lead singer and guitar player, comes in with the most previous experience. Having played with such bands as Ednas Goldfish (moonska), Step Lively (triple crown), and 28 Orange Street (now known as Common Rotation), Dave has learned a basic belief in touring non stop and putting on a show. Joey Mauro, drums and backing vocals, has become an inarguable leader of the band. Joey met Dave while recording drums for another band. They decided to try working together and the two original members formed. Working with promoters, booking agencies, web designers, and everyone else that keep the band moving, Joey is the business face of the band. Ryan Goldberg, the bassist and other backing vocalist, is the fans fan. Known for always being the first to say hello and the last to say goodbye to anyone who wants to talk, Ryan has become the first face that everyone is excited to see. With high stage energy and always eager to play, Ryans commitment to an energetic stage show has become a staple to the band.
A curse to some bands, The Keepaways sound has actually given them the freedom to play a diverse genre of shows and grow an audience where ever they play. The band has been defined and redefined by promoters, bands, labels and themselves. Starting in the Post Hardcore scene, the bands name was thrown in with such acts as Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, and Thursday. Recently they have been put into such genres as Indie and Power Pop rock. The band has been so indefinable that they have been put as the opening act for Plain White-Ts, The Arrogant Sons Of Bitches, Boys Night Out, Divide The Day and most recently were put as the direct openers for Glassjaw at one of Glassjaws first local appearances in years.
Three Months Reflected (recorded at Sabella Studios) is a six song Ep and the first release for The Keepaway. Based on three months written is Daves journal, some of the album tracks have already been release in compilations being used by California clothing store The Edge and Sexy Killer Records. The band is now eager to play all the places where they are getting recognized and just returned from their West coast and Mid west tours.
