The J. Walkers have been described as a band âtruly worth checking outâ with âlive shows that are fun, full of energy, and will stick with you for a long time after itâs done.â
This Fort Worth-based band has been together since 2005, and during that time, the band members (Jordan Burchill â vocals, guitar; Klint Stallons â vocals, fiddle, guitar; Derek Allen â bass; Jordan OâLeary â drums) have been steadily building up their fan base throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. After many bass player changes, the band emerged unscathed and successfully created a new sound after facing adversity.
Originally formed to play worship music for their church, their fiddle-twist on an alternative/bluesy rock background has been gaining attention of surrounding clubs, such as The Door in Fort Worth, Ridglea Theatre, and talent agency The Greenlight Firm (in direct relations with the Fidelity Entertainment Group, a Christian Rock label based in Tennessee).
Most recently, the band won the prestigious North Texas Battle of the Bands held at the University of North Texas. For winning the top prize, the band was able to record their latest single "Losing Me" and a promotional video for this single on board the John Lennon Tour Bus, a mobile recording studio. Another of the band's more recent songs titled âLetâs Feel Itâ was recorded with Ohio-based Pendlwood Studios, whose clientele is found by The Greenlight Firm. The much anticipated single has been grabbing the attentions of companies throughout the music industry (Shine Custom Drums in California, 92.1 KTFW, Childress radio stations, and various college radio stations). They have headlined at local clubs like The Door in Fort Worth, Ridglea Theatre, The Door Dallas, Rock Steady in Plano, and have performed at major city events like the Taste of Addison, Mayfest, Fort Worthâs annual festival held at Trinity River, Richardson's Wildflower Arts Festival, and the Fort Worth Music Festival, held every year at Ridglea Theatre. They have opened for such local acts such as Forever The Sickest Kids, Green River Ordinance, Black Tie Dynasty, and major acts like Cute Is What We Aim For, As Tall As Lions, and many other bands already established in the music world. They received the âPeopleâs Choice Awardâ at Mayfest 2007 and landed the number 2 spot at the Fort Worth Music Festival, a four day long event where 100+ nationally ranked bands with recording contracts had just recently performed at SXSW, a well-known arts festival held in Austin, Texas annually.
Although still at a young age (the oldest are in their first year of college), their experience and knowledge of music is that of professionals. They have been highly regarded by many who are involved with the music industry.
Oh Snap! (Crackle! Pop!)
