August 2002 saw the birth of one of Worcester, MA's best new bands of the past few years, The Hostage Heart. Already having a substantial following in the Northeast, The Hostage Heart is looking to rip you a new one within the coming year. Wicked guitar playing, brutal vocals & intense drumming reflects their influences, drawing from bands such as Blood Has Been Shed- whom Geoff Bahre has been rehearsing on drums with since he was 17 years old- Prayer for Cleansing and Dissolve. While they do not claim to be a Christian or a straightedge band, both of these ideologies have strong elements within the music. Aside from Geoff Bahre on drums, the band is comprised of Chris Diamantis on vocals, Nate Lane and Jared Colby on guitars, and Nate Fiske on bass. Previous releases include a 4-song self-released EP in 2003 entitled, "The First Signs of Wordly Cancer. These releases and their dynamic, captivating live show and willingness to tour wherever, whenever have given the band a solid reputation across the northeastern US. The Hostage Heart will be releasing a new 6 song EP 'Where There Is Despair, Hope;' in July 2004 on 5 Point Records, out of New York City. Look for The Hostage Heart on tour this summer with Invocation Of Nehek, She Kills and Mercury Switch.
