In 2005, a couple of friends who had know each other for years, but were involved in separate musical projects, were sitting in a bar enjoying the Otis Redding, Temptations and Sam Cooke playing on the jukebox. Their conversation about the timelessness of the music lead to a discussion about how much fun it would be to recreate that classic Motown and Stax music. Instead of leaving that idle chatter at the bar the two friends started contacting some of the top musicians who they had played with and in short order a group of Chicago's best underground musicians was formed. The thinking was to bring together a group of musicians who knew each other and who have a passion for Soul music instead of just patching together a group of session players who looked at the project as "just another gig." This youth, energy, and passion is what sets Todd Hembrook and the Hemispheres apart from every other band playing this kind of music.

But don't mistake youth for inexperience or lack of professionalism. Members of the Hemispheres have over 12 years experience playing together, include a graduate from the prestigious Berklee School of music, and have toured the United States from coast to coast. Whether playing a club date, a wedding, or a corporate event, the Hemispheres are committed to recreating this great music with the same passion as it was originally recorded. The commitment to the music comes out in each performance and ensures that everyone in the audience is having as much fun as the people on the stage.

As a true Soul Revue, Todd Hembrook and the Hemispheres perform an eclectic selection of Soul standards and dusty gems. Each member has their favorite artist and favorite songs so you can expect to hear a wide variety with some recognizable and some intriguing songs.
