UPDATE! January 3rd, 2007 Shawn michael had disappeared from the world of music almost altogether after the 2005 release of i lack courage. He had disappeared from the online world as well, abruptly deleting his grassroots campaign myspace account. He said this was for personal reasons and he missed the daily connection to all of his friends and fans. "I was just so fed up with the current state of things." He said in a 2006 interview. "I became incredibly frustrated with not only the music scene but with myself as a musician. It was a really dark time for me. I had released the album, which was a feat all in itself, but it didn't save me from the pain that would follow me wherever I went; in bars and in my barren apartment and with friends when really I was surrounded with people, but still very much alone." He is currently working on a new album, about which he says; "It's going to have that same great spirit I think of "i lack courage". It's going to be really something I take personally. I don't think I could ever make an album that wasn't extremely personal to me to begin with. The main difference will be the instrumentation and the vocals. I have been working with a few really talented musicians lately and working with other talented people can really grow you not only as a musician, but also as a person. The instrumentation is going to be more full, more lush; as opposed to "i lack courage" which was all just live tracking of me singing along with my guitar. I mean, you just have to grow as a person and as a musician; if you're not, then you're just not going to survive." After the album release date, which has yet to be determined, Shawn Michael is planning to go on tour to support the album. Look for him in your area soon!

the album itself is very reminiscent in recording style to that of johnny cash's late recordings that rick rubin produced. just vocals and a guitar, this bare bones recording style amazes the listener that is usually stunned and in disbelief, unsure of how that much passion and emotion can come just from a guitar and a spirit of unwillingness to break.
