Formed in December 2004 to realize the developing musical vision of independent producer Marcus "Rich" Richardson, The Glee club first took shape as a duo, with (independent producer) Marcus "Rich" Richardson and disc jockey Mario "Rio" Hughley rounding out the lineup. After coming to the realization of lacking an elemental part of success, they added drummer Paul "Push" Miller. One year into their lifespan as a band, the trio hit the studio to record their debut album, "Holy Calamity", slanted for a 2006 release. The Glee Club hasn't caught the touring bug, but it seems to be the norm for independent bands of the sort.
"Holy Calamity", being released in December 2006 is The Glee Club's debut album. The album will be the band's first union project with assistance from fellow independent producer Kevin "Eyce Kold" Burr. The album is expected to offer the first sign of where the band is heading.Planning as relentlessy as ever, Rich finds himself landing on the radar of several independent music lovers. With the signing of Push, the band ultimately sealed the deal - and "Holy Calamity" will be the band's best effort at defining a place for themselves within the independent music scene.
Long story short: Produced by Rich and Rio, "Holy Calamity" will immortalize everything the band believes. Following in the increasingly successful footsteps of their forefathers (N.E.R.D.), The Glee Club intends to claim a space in the hearts and ears of music lovers of various sorts.
Entering 2006. Strengthened by the pains of the recording studio, incessantly on fire musically, and with their lineup both solidified and contributing equally to the songwriting process, The Glee Club enters Rich Music Studios C (Bungalow Sounds). Bungalow Sounds is the same place Rich has recorded all previous musical compositions. With Rich at the production helm, along with help from bandmate Rio, and engineer Burr once again beind the boards, the trio sequestered themselves until winter and will emerge with their leanest, meanest and most focused effort yet, "Holy Calamity".
