The Garden District is a band from New Orleans
We make sincere, high-energy rock music for the people we love, for friends we don't even know yet, and for ourselves. We start by examining our own experiences....love, defeat, confusion, ambition, faith, skepticism, clarity. We build each song piece by piece, matching the intensity of the music with that of the message. Then we take a breath, take the stage, and spill absolutely everything....to anyone who will listen.

Only a few more days before the District will be trekking northward to Nada Studios in New York! I highly recommend that you all go out and pick up the new albums by Just Surrender and The Audition....both produced at Nada Studios by John Naclerio. He really knows how to pull the best sound out of a band's music......and we're ridiculously stoked to work with him.
In the coming months, we'll be putting the new record in front of many record execs, a&r dudes, radio stations, magazines, etc......so we need your help building the buzz!!!!!!! Become our friend on MySpace and PureVolume, leave us comments, introduce us to your friends, play our songs on repeat ALL day!!! We're going to do everything we can to make the new album as accessible as possible to you, so do what you can to spread it even further! If all goes as planned, 2008 will be the year of The Garden District!!!!
we <3 all of you!

The Garden District's debut EP, s o m u c h i t h u r t s, was recorded in the months before and after Hurricane Katrina. Better Than Ezra bassist Tom Drummond invited the band into his home studio to record a pair of songs after hearing their original demo. Drummond engineered and produced the two new tracks (Drop Dead Gorgeous and On The Line) and also provided the bass line. Better Than Ezra drummer Travis McNabb contributed to the songs as well by laying down the drum tracks. Their original demo was also heard by Fred LeBlanc of Cowboy Mouth, who offered to record a few songs with them as well. LeBlanc engineered and produced two tracks (Sigh and Avalanche), as well as laying down the drum and bass tracks. With four songs near completion, the band left the final touches to local mastering prodigy, Bruce Barielle.
With influences stretching from Jimmy Eat World and Weezer to the Beach Boys and the Beatles...the Garden District crafts intelligent and sincere rock songs packed with soaring harmonies, piercing guitar riffs, and relentless rhythms. Franks lyrics range from tongue-in-cheek diatribes to touching anthems to deeply personal insights on life and love. Pretuss and Franks captivating dual vocal attack is matched only by the depth and intensity of their guitar work, which features a dynamic array of open and alternate tunings. The animated rhythm duo of Miller and Shouppe create a ruthless and driving cadence that leaves listeners on their feet and out of breath. When they come together on stage, the chemistry is undeniable, and the experience unforgettable.
