Like Big Band in the 1920s and classical music before that, instrumental music has always been around, if not in the forefront. Now, bands like Explosions in the Sky, Pelican, and Sigur Ros are proving instrumental bands can be very successful once again. The Disconnect is an instrumental rock band from the Lehigh Valley in PA. They've been compared to bands such as Explosions in the Sky, Appleseed Cast and U2. Though The Disconnect is a relatively new band (theyve only been around for a year), all but one of the members has played in successful bands previously.
The Disconnect, with over 30 shows under their belt in their first year of existence, has developed an intense and emotionally charged live performance which has helped them impress unsuspecting crowds and gain a following quickly, evidenced by over 7000 fans and 28,000 plays on myspace.com since July 2005.
