At the extreme end of emulation and forensic goregrind butchery lie The County Medical Examiners: three pathologists who take their necropsy work, and grue-soaked death metal, seriously. Begun as a Carcass tribute band in 2001, the trio of professionals (guitarist Dr. Morton Fairbanks, drummer Dr. Jack Putnam, and bassist Michelle Hayes) soon (de)composed new songs in the Carcass goregrind style, releasing their debut full-length Forensic Fugues and Medicolegal Medleys on Razorback Records the next year. Their unhealthy obsession with patho-grind didnt stop there. After Hayes quit the band to pursue medical school, TCME recruited bassist Dr. Guy Radcliffe, and in 2003 released a split album with clone legends General Surgery, followed by a 7Reeking Rhapsodiesthe following year. Now their second full-length album Olidous Operettas, a masterwork of cloning, debuts on Relapse Records. The autopsy ward is open and the putrescent halls of their morgue reverberate with the heretical exaltations of death. Witness the goregrind legacy come full circle!
