Garret and Derek will no longer be playing with The Confidence as of December.
There are no hard feelings what so ever between any of us. I know a lot of
bands say that, but it is very true. They just feel that God has a different direction
for their lives and we totally respect that.
I know that some bands change members a lot, so it's no big deal, but we have
been together for 6 years now. This band has been pretty much all we've known
since high school (junior high for me) so it's really hard. We've had our ups and
downs, as every band and relationship does...but we've stuck through it and
kept trying. Living in the small town that we do, we've been very blessed to make
it where we have.
Last year a lot happened for us. We were voted (thanks to you!) to play the New
Band Showcase stage at Cornerstone Festival 2005. Also, we had a label and
management behind us, but those both fell apart and it was hard to pick back up
after that. When we changed the name, we hoped to sort of start over, but time
was wearing us down. Besides me, everyone else has been out of school for
two years or more.
We sat down the other night to talk about relocating as a band, which had
always been an idea AND an issue since i was still in high school, but now we
were actually at a point where it was possible. While we talked, Derek said he
had felt for a while that God has a different plan for his life other than the band
and Garret felt that his heart wasn't in it as much anymore either. It's really hard
because sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same, and mine
and Ron's heart are still really in it.
We're not sure exactly what's going to happen as far as adding new members
or when, so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we pray and figure
out God's will for our lives. Concerning the CD we recorded back in June, our plan
as of now is to have all ten songs available to download here on Purevolume.com.
Their last show will be December 28th in Bay City, keep checking back to our
MySpace for the venue.
We can't thank you enough, honestly. You are seriously what has made 88 Miles
Per Hour/The Confidence what we are. It's amazing how many people we've been
able to meet that we never would have otherwise, and we wouldn't change a
second of it. We're not saying this is the end, we're just saying thank you, we love
you more than you could ever know, and please give us some time. We hope and
pray that God's will would be done in your life as in ours.
