Members: Alejo Izaguirre (guitar/vocals)
The Bright Side of Suicide is an acoustic Indie project composed by its singer/song-writer Alejo Izaguirre along with the collaboration of his musical friends. The project originally started out in Modesto, CA in the year 2004 under the simple name of "Alejo" this formation was made up by simply a voice and an acoustic guitar which was found at the bottom of a friend's closet and bought for fifty dollars. Under that line-up "Alejo" recorded a three-song demo at a classmate's home-studio which was called "Piggy-Banks & Captain-Logs" ( http://www.purevolume.com/alejo ) and it was well received by friends and relatives. "Alejo´s" first presentation was as the opening act for the 2005 Modesto Arts & Wine Festival sponsored by the Gallo center, yet he did have a few informal performances during some of the Beyer High School lunch periods. Later on in 2005 some of the TBSOS songs like "Lindsey" and "JUAN (Jokingly, Uninspired at Night" were played by Painfully Obvious with Alejo on vox.
In 2006 Alejo moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina and started playing some of the songs along with Pablo Benzo (Drums) and David Maruchkian (Bass) and adopted the name of "Dauphin" ( http://www.purevolume.com/dauphin ). This new line-up lasted a few months and it was only able to record a acoustic-guitar and vocals two-song demo at a local city radio known as the "2x4" or "Centro cultural San Martin" unfortunately the line-up would dissolve later on. Then in November of that same year TBSOS played its first show under the The Bright Side Of Suicide name at a bar in Buenos Aires called Planta Alta. After that came a period in which things slowed down and there were no more performances until June of 2008. A new bar in Almagro, Buenos Aires opened up and TBSOS got to play every other Wednesday and bring another acoustic act to play with them. During this time TBSOS had the pleasure of playing along-side Martin Zambrano (Alegoria, EnUnCirculo) with whom he was playing in a band that would later on be known as "Bridges & Knights", and also were able to play with bands like "Second Hand", Diego Zavattarelli, and Trichilo. After two months the bar got locked-down and TBSOS found itself with nowhere to play and since Bridges & Knights was getting more and more serious and started recording their demo and playing some venues, there came another time of absence which lasted up until February of 2010.
This time TBSOS was stepping back into the Studio to finally get all those songs that were being played throughout all those years and have a possibly insane young man's creation come to life with the help of Fernando Zuccarelli (Aspek) in the production, TBSOS started recording its first official demo at Aspek Studios with the collaboration of Alejandra Moyano (Vox), Eric Desimone (Guitars) and Martin Zambrano (Guitars/Banjo). The artwork was assigned to an up-and-coming artist from Moreno, Buenos Aires called Guillermo Pacello and the demo will be available soonâ¦
For now we are only left with a few home recordings of the songs that will be on the demo, so you can enjoy those at http://www.myspace.com/thebrightsideofsuicide or http://www.purevolume.com/thebrightsideofsuicide
Also there is a YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/tbsosvid which has videos of performances and fun stuff.
