When you combine the catchy synthesizer of an 80s pop band with the fast paced energy of an old school pop punk band, there before you lies, The Bride Wore Black. The danceable sounds and unforgettable sing-alongs revamp the genre in a way that is both fun and new, but also stays true to its pop punk roots. The band grew up on bands like New Found Glory, The Ataris, Midtown, and Blink 182, and wanted to do something of the same nature, but with a brand new twist. Lead singer Sean Walsh had also been exposed to the synth-driven rock of the 80s at an early age, and along the line, thought the two styles would accommodate each other very well, captivated by the highly addictive riffs and melodies of both genres. In August of 2006 he joined up with life long friends Sam Fruner (guitar), Mike Antonucci (bass), and Tim Vargas (synth/piano) who shared the same passion of making music that they truly loved and taking it to a place that was far beyond the imagination. With their goals set and song writing underway, all they needed was the last piece of the puzzle and they found it in local drummer Devin Passeriello. From there on, the band quickly developed a loyal fan base by playing local shows throughout the Tri-State area with bands such as The Pink Spiders, Forgive Durden, The Almost, I Am The Avalanche, Rookie Of The Year, Amber Pacific and many more. In the Winter of 2006, the band recorded their debut EP, Pwned!, at Northshore Studios in Madison, NJ with Ryan Sellick (Armor for Sleep, Bedlight for Blue Eyes, Day at the Fair). With their intense live show, the release of their debut EP and months worth of touring on the rise, The Bride Wore Black is prepared to get their music out there for all to here, on a mission for global domination.
