THE BASEMENT is a 2 hour local music show based out of Arizona State University's campus radio station, THE BLAZE 1260 AM. Since it started in 2006, THE BASEMENT has spun the best in Arizona music, and welcomed dozens of local bands through its doors, many of which do live acoustic performances. As THE BASEMENT is changing hosts after May 2008, we felt it was important to showcase some of these artists and the color and life they brought to our station each week over the last 2 1/2 years.

All of these artists donated their in studio live performances for YOU to download for absolutely free. Bright Eyes has a lyric, "when you love something, give it away" and we love these bands, this show, this radio station and most of all, this music. It's a little raw and 100% college radio, but you can feel every single one of these bands in the room with you. These songs provide the organic experience that is sometimes lacking in music nowadays. Most of all, this is a truly an all star list of Arizona music. Those of you from Arizona should feel honored to call them your neighbors, and those of you across the country won't know what hit you. What is coming out of this desert is something so distinct, and won't remain silent for long.

Thank you to every single band who has joined us into the studio, even if you are not featured on this compilation. For 25 years, The Blaze has prided itself on being the first in local music, and we hope we can share just a little of the music that will forever resonate through our walls.
