The Art of Abandonment is a band aptly named. Though formed officially in the summer of 2004, the group had ample experience in performing together prior to the project's beginning. Playing in a young adolescent band which opened for the likes of Bigwig, Stretch Arm Strong, and Element 101, they gathered a small following in their hometown before reinventing themselves to become who they are today. And who they are today can be defined in one word: genuine.
Genuine is the key word in defining that which this band strives so hard to be. They've learned to abandon themselves to their music, blending a motley array of musical influences and varieties in order to bring something original to the hardcore music scene: something that thrives in passion, angst, half-buried sentiment and the true nature of life as they perceive it. From raw, broken vocal outbursts to acoustic-driven ballads, there is literally no visible limitation to the spectrum that this band covers in their cross-genre journey toward true musical expression.
The band has had three small tours thus far, and in hopes of promoting their new EP The Vagrant Forsaken will take to the road once more in late March. They take pride in the fact that they do all within their abilities to establish a true and steady connection with their listeners, making friends along the way toward their destination. That destination is full-time touring. Finding the support and means to make ends meet for the sake of constantly playing, constantly writing and constantly working to better themselves and their ever-evolving sound.
Location: Red Lion, PA
