In the short time since The Apostacy formed, they have molded
themselves into a force to be reckoned with showcasing their brand of
melodic-tinged death metal. Equal parts blackened and melodic death,
The Apostacy have a strong influence of European metal where the emphasis
is on it's sweeping melody and clarity, but bridge that sound by remaining
harsh and indestructible in it's delivery, which is very reminisent of the
surroundings of American metal. The ability to play with such fury while
adhering to the said melodic stucture is a testament to what draws the
listener in.

Having formed the band originally under the name Serenade to Nothing
in Burlington, Vermont around 2001, Justin Boyea, Ed Fletcher, Matt
Barron, and Matt Mercier constructed early songs with originality and
concise song structures that flowed amid the time and key changes that
hinted at the bands progressive influences as well. After playing a handful
of shows in 2002, a revolving drum throne was finally secured by former
Disillisioned drummer Nic Vartulli. Nic's hard hitting style nicely
complimented the thrashy riffs of Matt Barron and Ed Fletcher to solidify
his position in the band. Along With Ed Fletcher's flowing leads, Matt
Barron paints a canvas with an array of sounds and ideas while Matt
Mercier's fluent basslines add harmonic interest along with his rhytmic
security that he and Nic Vartulli use to drive The Apostacy. A truly
savage live act, The Apostacy put forth an energetic live performance that
is in your face, yet introverting at the same time. With darkened
lyrics of struggle, despair and the unknown, Justin Boyea maneauvers his
voice from blood curdling growls to soft spoken passages sung with emotive
response that can keep you guessing as to what will come next.
Since returning to the stage as The Apostacy in early 2004,
performances at the "Sun and Steel Florida Metalfest" and the "March Metal
Meltdown New Jersey Metalfest" The Apostacy has laid the groundwork for
what is coming to be a rabid following. Be on the lookout for The Apostacy
in your area during the duration of 2004, and the coming year of 2005.

"Burlington's newest metal act, The Apostacy, deliver with their energetic and truly savage live act. When dark lyrics of struggle, despair and the unknown collide with an in-your-face performance, the result is the melody-tinged death metal that is The Apostacy. Retaining the sweeping melody and clarity of highly influential European metal, the band incorporates that sound while remaining harsh and indestructible in their delivery."
