Members: Brandon Barry, Joe Donohue III, Matthew Crane, Aaron Odden
In an age of cookie-cutter music - when the pursuit of celebrity has too often overshadowed the perfection of sound, and when recording studio magic is too frequently found in the technical enhancements of an engineer rather than the musical talents of the performers - The Albrights are different: they're soulful. They're versatile. They're real.
Formed in 2009 by Joe Donohue III (vocals, piano, songwriter), Brandon Barry (vocals, guitar, songwriter), Matthew Crane (bass), and Aaron Odden (drums), The Albrights' debut CD Ask, Tell. was released by Buzz Records in May 2011.
Delivering pop-steeped indie rock in the tradition of The Beatles and The White Stripes, The Albrights are a genuine band that stokes your raw emotions, leaving you with that feeling of just having heard your favorite song.
Ask, Tell. is a juxtaposition of writing styles: Barry's socially aware, sometimes-edgy poetry is paired with a grunge-inspired sound. "I want to instigate people to think," he says. Meanwhile, Donohue's bouncy pop melodies are balanced by almost introspective, diary-like lyrics. "Music," he says, "is my -and our- method of dealing with the world.
As stated in a review of the CD posted on LeicesterBangs.com, "Everything is right, Everything is Albright."
