This is the longest drive of my life, and more happenings from our tour with Velvet Revolver:
Greetings from Chicago, which is uncharacteristicallh sunny and warm. We just drove here from Seattle, a 2000 mile nonstop stretch that took us about 36 hours. Yesterday the only cheap food available for 100 miles at any point of our being hungry was McDonalds and we ate it 3 times like Morgan Spurlock in Supersize Me. We don't feel so good!
We are not alone in the van on this tour. We are accompanied by Merch Guy/Tour Manager Mike Jakubiak and guitar tech/stage manager Danny Marquez, who are both hilarious and if I hadn't forgotten the cable to connect the camera to the computer, you would find them quite attractive (I will buy this cable today and post too many photos soon!) Danny knows all the words to Kriss Kross's "Jump" and sings along to the whole thing very animatedly and Mike snores so loud that we all sleep with iPods on. Our newest contest is brought to you by Mike, and here it is:
A free CD to the first 3 people who can figure out what "Termite, Wooden Mallet, Magnifying Glass" is. This is a first in our "decode The Actual's inside jokes" contest. Think hard, young Einstein.
The shows have been fantastic - tonight is number 4. Ben and I both fell down on stage in Seattle (I broke my guitar and finished "Dream Police" just on the mike, it was epic!) and other than that things are going swimmingly. Tomorrow VR has the day off (they all got to fly home to LA and then back to Chicago while we drove!!! Lucky stiffs!) but we will soldier to Milwaukee to play with our old friends The Junior Varsity (www.myspace.com/thejuniorvarsity) and then we have to speed to Detroit to do morning television on Saturday. It's awesome being this busy.
Last, our tour with Ozma will be about 5 weeks long and will cover most of the US, including our first ever trip to Florida. Dates are being updated constantly.
So I must be going. Post your contest responses below re: Termite, Wooden Mallet, Magnifying Glass and we'll see you soon!
