Imagine believing you're glued to the kitchen floor for two days. That wasn't the life singer-songwriter Jesse James planned on living. Although, for a while, it was one he chose. But that was all about to change.

During a 15-hour drive to Florida in one of the worst storms of the past decade, James had an epiphany: As soon as he got back to his apartment in Dallas, Texas, he'd lock himself in his bedroom with nothing but his computer, guitar and two dollar bell kit, and musically write a story about the past two years of his life.

Only one month later James ventured to music Mecca Austin, Texas to record those songs with a close friend. What became of those late night recording sessions ended up as The A-B Theory's debut release, the "Illusions" EP. After the album was recorded, James did what any musician would in this day and age: He posted his music online. His blend of caustic wit, serene melodies and pop hooks didn’t take long to find eager ears. After obtaining favorable praise from sites such as AbsolutePunk and The Daily Chorus, as well as a continuously growing fan base on MySpace, James took the next step and self-booked a West Coast tour. He quickly found new friends in the crowds each night.

It's been one year since James locked that bedroom door and began working on the first songs for The A-B Theory, and nothing has slowed down since. James has been busy at work constructing his next release, "Houses" (due early 2010), booking another summer tour, and finishing his degree in English/Creative Writing.

The percussion in Ataraxia is amazing. How do you come up with such complex and innovative yet seemless beats? No, really, I want to know. The feel of One Night Waltz is ambitious and creative for an electronica outfit and it's executed perfectly. Those two songs are my favorite but they're all great, I'm so glad I found The A-B Theory. Also the bio the above says your name is Jesse James. Maybe the writer thought it was catchier than Jesse Smith? 1 week ago
