It's been what seems like centuries since the winds of change have blown across our backs."
Holy shit. Hello.
The last time a vast majority of you have seen us as a band was on September 22nd, 2006. What's it been now over 9 months? Over 39 weeks? Over 273 days? Whatever way you look at it, it's a really long time. Despite the rumors, we have not broken up, we did not sign with Prosthetic records, and Aaron Parker was not a finalist on American Idol. So, here's a summary of what's been going on:
The time off was more than necessary. After what seemed like months of shows every few days, we had all grown pretty tired. With what seemed like constantly changing priorities, schedules, and interests, the possibility of keeping The Adversary alive seemed to be fading away. After the September show, we all decided that a break would be beneficial. Soon after, we parted ways with our old drummer. Aaron (who had been playing bass) filled the position, and a close friend of the band, Brett, stepped in to play bass.
So, the band now had the responsibility of getting Brett up to speed and letting Aaron get broken into playing drums again. We had been playing songs off of The Enemy and The Opponent since July '05, and had just released our two song demo (Selfish Gene and Magnalynn) in '06. Rather than taking time off only to return with a million songs people had already heard, we decided to start fresh and begin writing brand new material.
It wasn't the easiest task in the world. We were basically a new band, and had to learn to work together all over again. We decided to become more technical, and wanted to take everything (from drums to vocals to guitars to lyrics to guitar tones) a step higher. So songs were written and rewritten and rewritten again. Songs were written and then thrown out the window. Songs were started and then abandoned. Slowly but surely, we completed 7 songs that all of us were 100% satisfied with. "Pisces" and "One at the Helm" (which are both demo versions) are just two of the seven we will be releasing on an upcoming EP.
Jacob will be manning the soundboards for the recording. He is responsible for the quality of the two demo songs (we are all pretty damn happy with what turned out). *Be one the lookout for the new And So It Was Said EP. Jacob is halfway through recording the band.
So, to sum it all up: We're not dead. We are all very much alive. Check the shows section often. Check out our new merch designs.
Thanks. See you all soon.
-The Adversary
