In Summer 2008, Dave emerged from the studio, having recorded what was meant to be the second Street to Nowhere record. Upon listening back, he decided it sounded like a fresh start and ditched the name "Street to Nowhere" for his own name.

In August 2008 he released a single entitled "America" which can be downloaded for free at davesmallen.com/america

The rest of the recording was released as a series of singles through 2009 and released as a full length entitled, "Everything Changes and Nothing Changes" on December 1st 2009.
