8 Jun 2008:
My second release - entitled Calmer Than Karma EP - is available worldwide on Monday 16th June 2008 via my official website.
That very night, there is also an EP launch gig being held in Lancaster, at the Yorkshire House venue. I'll be headlining with my band and we'll be playing songs from the new EP, songs from my first release (2006's Bad River EP) and a couple of crowd-pleasers that I've played over the years. It's free entry and each and every attendee will receive a free copy of the new EP in CD format.
The five tracks are:
1) Calmer Than Karma
2) Jouissance
3) I'd Like To Share My Time With You
4) M.F. (Live)
5) Whiskey (Live)
Tracks 4 and 5 are taken from a recording of my performance at LAWM's 1st birthday gig in Lancaster back in February 2007.
So far, there have only been two EP reviews. The first one is from SCAN (Lancaster University's newspaper). They gave it 4 stars, call me "one of Lancaster's most prominent artists of the time" and they describe the EP as "a charming, inoffensive, enjoyable acoustic romp from an established face of the Lancaster music scene."
The second one is from Toxic Pete, who said the following: "Morgan shows massive potential here with brilliant powerful songwriting and tangibly punchy but expressive performances. The whole alt folk-rock thing is a very competitive place to be but Steve Morgan shows he's got what it takes to become a leader in the field! ... Steve Morgan sounds ready and up for it - whether solo and unplugged or electric and backed by like-minded musicians this guy's got what it takes." Click here to see the review in full.
Not bad huh? Move reviews are due out over the next week or two, so keep your eyes peeled on the bulletin board and the blog, as I'll be posting them as they come in.
Cheers,
Steve
