I'm Stephen Cope. I write indie folk/pop songs and then I sing them. A
nice man told me that I'm the lovechild of Damien Rice and Colin Meloy of the
Decemberists. I'm from Murrieta in southern California, and I'm currently at
school at BYU in Provo, UT. I'm a media music major: songwriting, music
business, theory, recording, and voice technique. I play guitar, piano, trumpet,
bass, and sing, and I'm working on an album with all of that, but I've only ten
fingers, so I play guitar at shows. I'd give all of those fingers to play a show with
Manchester Orchestra, Brand New, The Shins, or Death Cab for Cutie, and then
I'd learn to play with my feet instead.
