Stealing Second,

Well to start off, We are a 4 piece band, and we come from a growing Music Society in Brunei. We play Rock/Alternative type of music, but really, we are open to nearly anything.

Our Band formed in the late September of 2007, and a few weeks later, we compete in Brunei's High School Battle of the Bands competition and won. Right now 3 out of the 4 members, have won BOTBs twice..

It all started off with Jon & Danial both in different bands back in 2006 with Jon and The Bakers Wife winning BOTBs in 05 and Danial in Mota winning it in 06. In mid July of 07, Jon and Danial were bandless and decided to form a new band, and a few weeks later Danial recruited our new bassists, Jeffrey and we were left to find ourselves Lead Guitarist. A week later, Afifi was brought into the band and with that we had our 4 piece band which was eventually name Stealing Second.

After winning battle of the bands 2007. Jeffrey decided to leave as he was involved in another band and so we had to find another bassist once again. Simon Berrill joined Stealing Second mid December, and with him in our band we hope to proceed into recording sometime mid February or March 08.

We currently have 5 to 6 songs fully written and are writing a few more songs to finish up the album. We hope you like our music, and please if anything, leave us a comment.

april 18th gig

hello rockers! we've finally been called up for a gig! i hope we dont get cancelled again this time :/ we've got new songs we want u guys to listen to.. so b sure to come to our gig orite? ill b seeing u there.. o btw, on behalf of the band i apologise for the slow updates.. we've been very busy with stuff.. esp. skool!! i cant wait to get out yet i dont want it to end!! yea. i know.. it doesnt make sense to me either... bt i guess a lot of us feel that way sumtimes... o.. this is my first time putting up a blog... its not so bad after all.. haha.. orite.. see u guys!!! -Afifi

Battle of the Bands Review

Alright Guys,

Sorry to keep the updates slow, been busy. Anyway, in my last post, remember how i said we formed this band 2 months ago, well after using that time to get the band "Tighter", we went out to perform our biggest gig so far, Battle of the Bands.For the first time in ISB history, the tickets were SOLD OUT. Sorry to the people who wanted to watch us. Thanks for coming though! Last year was half of the people that was in that hall that night.

First up was "THE KICKS" the only people i know in that band were Adam and Naqib from JIS, anyway they did their own songs, and they were the one who really got the crowd going and they set the tempo.

Second were "MAIN MENU" with Yasmin, Isa, Azim, Aiman and Azim's Cousin. Metal band, playing all 3 songs from 'Avenged Sevenfold' hard band, very technical. and i have to admit they raelly really pulled Bat Country off.

Third were, "7 MINUTES OF FAME" I reckon these were our toughest competition, right from the start and they were tight, they had their own fan club and they were impressive, they did a cover of 'Eric Clapton - Foxy Lady', 'Bowling for Soup - Candy' and their 3rd song was their own. I have to admit Foxy lady was really good and the solos were very nice, but they ended their performance by each of the 3 guitarist playing another guitarist guitar. That set the tempo and the height for the next band.. who were

"STEALING SECOND", we were forth up and the crowd that were with "7mintuesoffame" increased when we came, or i thought they did. Massive crowd, i loved it! Before we even started, 1 side of the crowd were chanting "FIFI, FIFI" and the other side were chanting "DAN, DAN" and there were a little group in the middle going "JON, JON" and Jeff too. I guess me and jeff werent that popular. OKay we started off with our own song, "MONA" and it was really good. No, scratch that, it was amazing! I loved it! some people in the crowd were singing. but the next song, everyone sang. We did "The Killers- Somebody Told Me" and when the chrous came in, the People were singing so loud, i couldnt hear Dan sing. Our Last song, "Take it away" This was a long song, this had so many sections into it. THIS (in my opinion) was THE song of the night. The riff was catchy, the crowd chanted and clapped, we hit the jazz riff on the bass, we did everything. For those who wondered why the mikes were turned off, they were turned off for some reason, so we had no singing for the final 2 chorus, but it didnt matter, we played on and it was a fantastic song!

Fifth up were "MOTA" and they were the band that ended it, made sure it ended in style, they did, 'Saturday Night', 'Girl in the rock show' and another song which i cant remember, but they did it well.

We won Best Band! Thank you to all that voted for us, chanted and clapped with us, and to those who supported us the whole way, We would like the thank, "Hadz" our number 1 supporter, Fadzil supporting us all the way from UK, IMTS, Rif being out number 2 supporter! the list goes on and on. But we would want to thank YOU, so everyone who was with us from start to finish or in between...thank you!
BTW We got a gig coming up in December, unconfirmed but if it is, you guys would be the first to know. Listen to us and Spread the news of us. Thank you for reading!

First Gig at TT Blues

All right,

After 2 to 3 weeks of practise, we did the auditions for ISB Battle of the Bands, 9 bands, signed up for it and only 5 made it through. During the auditions, we played "Somebody Told by The Killers" it was actually pretty good and we kinda felt confident about it.

3 days ago we had a gig and it was held at TT blues cafe, and we opened for "I Mean The Snakes" Who are THE up-coming band in Brunei. At around 8.45, We kicked off with our first song,
'Take It Away' followed by 'Somebody Told Me' and then 'Mona'. 2 of our own songs and one cover, not a bad start.Danial our lead singer and guitarist took center stage and performed the next 3 songs which were all covers, ' Hammerage - Fuel, February 18th - IMTS and Iris- Goo goo dolls'we then got back on Stage and performed the final two of our own, 'Angel Eyes and Mona'

4 of our own songs, and 4 covers, a really good day, and with us barely 3 weeks in together. It made the feeling a whole lot better, thanks everyone who showed up, please do keep coming, and we will keep you updated.

By the way, we got selected to perform BOTB so, our next Gig, ISB Battle of the Bands, See you there.
